On Friday, June 19th, a press conference was held in the Corporate Hangar at the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport. This press conference was called to discuss legislation that had recently been passed in the North Carolina General Assembly pertaining to the airport. Senate Bill 795 was effectively passed in both the Senate and the House; changing the makeup of the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport Commission and its name to the Southeast Regional Airport Authority. The Mayors for both the City of Laurinburg and the Town of Maxton spoke at the conference concerning the bright future that this legislation will bring about for the airport. Senator Tom McInnis and Representative Garland Pierce (pictured below with airport management) were crucial in the bill's passing at the State level.
